January 1, 1864


A disagreeable damp warm morning, cleared off at noon, and at night intensely cold, had quite a number of calls, some very pleasant ones, M.L. laid up with rheumatism.

January 2, 1864


Extremely cold, attended a meeting at our church, concerning the Sunday fire and in the evening at the Academy to hear the speaking. Mrs. Chase came over.

Jan 3, 1864

Still very cold.


January 4, 1864


Still very cold, Mrs. Chase with us, went over to Collombs B and the Skating Pond.


Jan. 31, 1864


Mild and pleasant, wrote to Aunty.
